These machines are created outside of Horizon and then registered with the Horizon Connection Servers. With manual pools or farms, Horizon does not create or manage the lifecycle of the machines. A manual pool or farm is a collection of pre-created vCenter virtual machines, physical machines, or non-vCenter virtual machines. An automated desktop pool or farm uses a vCenter virtual machine template or snapshot to create a pool of identical virtual machines. In this document, we want to highlight a little known, but supported use case of Horizon which would enable deployment on native AWS, either Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) or Amazon WorkSpaces Core, without the presence of VMware Cloud on AWS. Without VMware vSphere, the traditional way of deploying Horizon is unavailable. However, there are AWS environments where VMware Cloud (VMC) on AWS services are not available, such as the AWS secret regions.
